Putting your hard contacts in and taking them out

We’ve drawn up a step-by-step plan for easily putting your hard contacts in as well as taking them out. We will be happy to explain this in the shop, but a little reminder never hurts.

Putting your hard contact lenses in

  1. Wash your hands with disinfectant soap and dry them off thoroughly.
  2. Always start with the right lens so that you don’t put the wrong lens in the wrong eye.
  3. Put the lens on the pad of the index finger of your dominant hand.
  4. Using your middle finger of this same hand, pull your lower eyelid down. Using the middle finger of your other hand, pull your upper eyelid upwards. Look straight ahead and put the lens right in the middle of your eye.
  5. Look up and down once before letting go of your eyelids.

Repeat this procedure on your left eye.

Taking your hard contact lenses out

Blinking

  1. Wash your hands with disinfectant soap and dry them off thoroughly.
  2. Always start with the right lens so that you don’t put the wrong lens back in the wrong side of your case.
  3. Cup your non-dominant hand under your eye to catch your contact lens.
  4. Bend your head forward slightly and pull the outer corner of your eye outward using the index finger of your dominant hand.
  5. Open your eye as wide as possible and look towards your nose.
  6. Using your index finger, pull the corner of your eye upwards and outwards while blinking.
  7. The lens will fall out of your eye and into your cupped hand.
  8. Clean your lenses as instructed in the cleaning system you’ve purchased.

Repeat this procedure on your left eye.

Using a contact lens remover (“suction cup”)

  1. Wash your hands with disinfectant soap and dry them off thoroughly.
  2. Always start with the right lens so that you don’t put the wrong lens back in the wrong side of your case.
  3. Put a drop of contact lens solution in the suction cup of the remover.
  4. Keep your eye wide open and gently press the suction cup to the lens.
  5. The suction cup will “adhere” to the lens.
  6. Clean your lenses as instructed in the cleaning system you’ve purchased.
